Item #: SCP-569-JP
Object Class: Safe
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-569-JP is to be kept in a standard containment locker at Site-8181, after being removed all konpeitō from its inside. Experiment involving SCP-569-JP is to be authorized by at least 2 Security Clearance Level 2 personnel.
Description: SCP-569-JP is an object that resembles to a light bulb. Unlike normal light bulb, however, SCP-569-JP has a detachable glass cover and an extra switch, and lacks filament. SCP-569-JP consists of general glass and metal.
The anomalous property of SCP-569-JP manifests when SCP-569-JP has filled by konpeitō and its switch was pressed1. When switched on, konpeitō within SCP-569-JP begins to emit light. Colors of light vary depending on internal konpeitō, and those konpeitō are consumed together with the hours of use; of note is that konpeitō within SCP-569-JP doesn't melt by electric heat even if SCP-569-JP has connected to the base.
In case the konpeitō in SCP-569-JP are used up, user can refill and continue using it. While SCP-569-JP basically makes all konpeitō light on irrespective of the manufacturer, it is proved that the light-quantity of konpeitō is in proportion to its quality. How SCP-569-JP makes the konpeitō luminescent is still unknown. Completely filled SCP-569-JP can continuously emit the light for approximately 120 hours. Konpeitō that was used as a light source can be consumed without any problem.
Light that emitted from SCP-569-JP affects the exposed individual's mental state. Effects vary by the color of konpeitō within SCP-569-JP; warm colors tend to make the subject aggressive, and cold colors cause the pessimistic sense. SCP-569-JP's effect lasts longer proportionally to the length of exposure, but can be relieved to a certain extent by mental treatments such as counseling.
Test Log 569-JP-A
Method： SCP-569-JP was lighted while being filled by red konpeitō.
Result： When switched on, SCP-569-JP was emitted red-colored light.
Analysis： SCP-569-JP's colors of light is dependent on internal konpeitō.
Test Log 569-JP-B
Method： SCP-569-JP was repeatedly lighted while being filled by various sugar confectioneries.
Result： When switched on, in all cases, SCP-569-JP didn't function.
Analysis： SCP-569-JP can't make the confectioneries illuminate, except the konpeitō.
Test Log 569-JP-C
Method： SCP-569-JP was lighted while being filled by red and blue konpeitō.
Result： When switched on, SCP-569-JP was emitted purple-colored light.
Analysis： SCP-569-JP's colors of light can be "mixed" by using multiple different-colored konpeitō.
Test Log 569-JP-D
Method： SCP-569-JP was lighted while being filled by white konpeitō; the subject was exposed to SCP-569-JP's light continuously for 30 minutes.
Result： 5 minutes after the commencement of test, D-4772 abruptly fell asleep while smiling. The subject woke up at the same time that SCP-569-JP is turned off. After the test, D-4772 claimed "[He] suddenly felt happy and got sleepy".
Analysis： White light seems induce the relaxation effect.
Test Log 569-JP-E
Method： SCP-569-JP was lighted while being filled by red konpeitō; the subject was exposed to SCP-569-JP's light continuously for 30 minutes.
Result： About 5 minutes after the commencement of test, D-4669 started demanding to "let [him] out of here" in menacing manner. 10 minutes after, D-4669 suddenly fell down on the floor and died; the cause of death was concluded to be apoplexy.
Analysis： Red light seems induce the state of extreme excitement.
Test Log 569-JP-F
Method： SCP-569-JP was lighted while being filled by blue konpeitō; the subject was exposed to SCP-569-JP's light continuously for 30 minutes.
Result： About 5 minutes after the commencement of test, D-3845 started sobbing uncontrollably. After 7 minutes, D-3845 attempted to kill himself by biting off his tongue. Test abandoned; D-3845 managed to survive by quick treatment. D-3845 recovered to the level capable of speaking over few weeks, claiming "[He] despaired at everything and thought [he] wanted to die".
Analysis： Blue light seems induce the pessimistic thought, that still can be cured.
